Latest RSI stats released

With recent announcements from the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists, RSI continues to be reported in the media as a serious issue, with articles on the BBC and the Guardian.

The Chartered Society of Physiotherapists say that both the Government and businesses need to do more to help protect employees from repetitive strain injuries (RSI).

Latest figures show that there are more than 200,000 RSI sufferers a year in the UK.

It is estimated that RSI costs UK business £300m a year - through absence, sick pay and administration.

The deputy director-general of the CBI, John Cridland, said, "Businesses take the wellbeing of their staff and the issue of RSI very seriously.
"… the focus should be on improving information and support on appropriate prevention strategies."

To follow John's advice, visit our ergonomic website for more information on preventing RSI.

Casualties of the recession

62% of employees say their employer has placed less emphasis on health and safety since the recession hit, according to a survey by National Accident Helpline.

These shocking figures have been revealed after the Health and Safety Executive reported that 34 million work days are lost every year because of work-related illness or injury - a worrying 1.4 days for every British employee.

Legal director of National Accident Helpline, John Campbell, said:

"Investing time and money to make your workplace as safe as possible may seem less important during a recession, but these figures show that there is a financial incentive to do so. Employees who have accidents because of poor workplace safety have every right to claim for compensation."

There is no doubt that it's tough out there, but our advice would be not to risk compensation claims and the costs of sickness absence and instead continue to provide a safe and productive place of work. Any other method is just false economy.

Herman Miller unveil the brand new Embody ergonomic chair

"Come to Southampton to see some chairs?" That's what one of our customers, quite rightly, asked. Our answer ... Yes!

Why? Leading global provider of office furniture, Herman Miller, is exclusively visiting Keytools to demonstrate their innovative ergonomic chairs and unveiling the brand new Embody.

You'll want to sit in, and try an ergonomic chair before making a final decision.

Don't take our word for it
"I came along with 3 of my colleagues and we were able test the quality and adjustability of the chairs on display. It's impossible to understand a product just by looking at a picture. Being able to test it myself was really important.

The Herman Miller chairs were ten times more comfortable than other chairs I have used and great value for money. I wish I had been able to test products like this before. It would have saved me time and money." ... read case study
Keith Peskett, Health & Safety Manager,Royal West Sussex NHS Trust
