Safer computing
The Evoluent Mouse 3 has been ergonomically designed to ensure a healthier and safer way of working through the day.

Natural mousing

The mouse remains steady when you press the buttons because the thumb naturally opposes the finger movements.

About three or four years ago I got RSI (which was so bad my doctor falsely diagnosed me with arthritis) from using a normal mouse all day at work. My employer bought me one of these. Within four weeks the pain and swelling had disappeared completely (yes, it really took this long - I'd previously given up my normal mouse for a week without any improvement). I think the problem for me was the almost permanent vertical 'hovering' of my fingers over the mouse buttons, causing tension in the tendons that run over my knuckles - that is where I got the swelling. I've been fine for years since I got this 'sideways' (horizontal buttons) Evoluent mouse at work. Now I'm thinking about one for home, and I see they're quite expensive. So in summary: it really does work brilliantly, but expensive - if your employer is paying, you need this! Otherwise consider using your computer less!

I had a painful wrist and the evoluent mouse has 'cured' that. I now get pain in my fore-finger and little finger. I would like the smaller mouse, but it only has 2 buttons & scroll. If it had a double-click button I would buy that as the sideway rip is really helpful.

A number of years ago I developed very painful muscularskeletal pains in my right hand as a result of extensive use of a normal 2 button mouse. After trials of a range of ergo mice I was introduced to the Evoluent Vertical mouse (first version). Literally within a few days of use the pain that had been present in my wrist and forearm disappeared. I have since upgraded to the wireless Evoluent 3 and it is fantastic. I do have large hands so this particular model works well for me. I find my wrist / forearm remain in a very neutral and comfortable position all the time and I never have any problems. I found that I had to use the software to inactivate the bottom button on right hand side as if I picked the mouse up for any reason the grip activated the assigned function. As I only really need 2 buttons this was no loss to me. I can only imagine that the Evoluent 4 has further improved on this. For business users I'd suggest you speak to your supplier of these and see if you can have one for a week to try out. I am not sure if they do these in smaller sizes but if not, some users with very small hands may find it a little bulky. I also found the scroll button in the Evoluent 3 version a little stiff at times but again it may be better on this new version? Overall I would definitely recommend it!
