The Intel® Reader is a mobile handheld device designed to increase independence for people who have specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia, have visual impairment or for anyone who struggles with reading standard print. Its unique design combines a high-resolution camera with an Intel® Atom® processor to convert printed text to digital text, and then read it aloud to the user.
Easy to use design Just point, shoot and listen to printed text such as school work, work material, or menus on the spot. With easy-to-locate buttons, audio and visual navigation and straightforward menus, the Intel Reader does not require sight to operate. The large screen can zoom in and out and text size can be adjusted.
Mobile The Intel Reader weighs just over a pound and is the size of a paperback book. The Intel Reader’s earphones offer private, clear and discreet listening. Capture a variety of printed material and manage it with the Intel Reader. Use the Portable Capture Station to scan, convert, and store text and listen later. The Intel Reader will play most content, including MP3s, WAV and DAISY* books.
Portable Capture Station The Intel® Portable Capture Station makes it easier to capture large amounts of text. The button located on the base of the Intel Portable Capture Station also lets you capture the text quickly and removes movement of the camera. The Intel Portable Capture Station neatly folds up like a briefcase, ideal for on the move and storing away when not in use.
